IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals Won The Match But David Fined, Why Every Skipper Fined In IPL Match?

In the Indian Premier League 2023, the 34th match was played between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. Delhi Capitals won the match, but the captain of the team, David Warner, has been fined Rs 12 lakh by the BCCI.

This match played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, the Delhi Capitals team could not finish their overs at the right time, due to which the IPL governing body has fined team captain David Warner.

“Captain David Warner has been fined Rs 12 lakh as this is the team’s first offense of the current season under the IPL Code of Conduct for slow over-rate,” the IPL said in a statement.

According to the rules of IPL, the match has to be finished in 3 hours 20 minutes. But many times the teams are not able to follow it, due to which the captain has to pay a fine for the first mistake. If this mistake happens again then the players of the team also have to pay the fine. So far David Warner, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Faf Du Plessis and Hardik Pandya have also had to pay this fine.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals made a score of 144/9 in 20 overs in the match played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In response, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team could score 137/6. Delhi bowlers did not complete the overs on time.

Be aware that this was Delhi Capitals’ second win in 7 matches and they occupy the 10th or last position in the points table of IPL 2023. At the same time, it was the fifth defeat of Sunrisers Hyderabad in seven matches and it is at the 9th position in the points table. Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be face to face once again on Saturday. The match between the two teams will now be played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.
