A new level of enthusiasm is being seen among the fans regarding the matches of the 16th season of IPL, and for this reason, a huge crowd of spectators is also being seen in the stadium.
Some fans reached the stadium with fake match tickets during the 25th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 18.
Rachakonda Police has arrested over a dozen people for fake security passes and IPL 2023 match tickets. During the SRH vs MI match, many people entered the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad with fake tickets. Fans with genuine tickets had to struggle for sheets, so the scandal was unearthed.
Reportedly, the fraudsters were caught when a fan bought six tickets to the game, only to find out later that their seats were already full. At the same time, many other fans face the same problem. However, the genuine person got their seat after some time.
According to the Times of India, a cricket fan said: “We entered the stadium around 8 pm, and by then those seats were already occupied by some other people.”
Police officials have registered a case against the ticket seller after spotting 13 people with fake security IDs who tried to enter the stadium to watch the SRH vs MI match.
Earlier, the Delhi Police busted a gang printing fake tickets for IPL matches and selling them at exorbitant prices. Ticket sellers allegedly sell fake tickets and IDs during the ongoing IPL 2023 by copying the barcodes provided on the originals of the fake tickets. Delhi Police has arrested 5 accused in this case, of which 3 are also minors.
