Mini auction for IPL 2023 is likely to happen in mid December and before it all the IPL franchises have been asked to submit the list of players they intend to release by 15 November. Delhi capitals, one of the most reputed franchises have decided to go with some huge changes in IPL 2023.
A source close to the team has reported that the Capitals are likely to release their star bowling all-arounder, Shardul Thakur, with the motto of buying him back at a low price during the auction.
Thakur got entry to Delhi capitals with a whopping amount of 10.75 crores during the mega auction that happened before IPL 2022. The all-rounder is currently with the team India for T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia but is not in the squad.
In IPL 2022, Shardul Thakur only scored 120 runs in 14 games and he was also expensive in bowling. He grabbed 15 wickets but the economy rate was almost 10 and the average was 31.5. Before Delhi Capitals, Shardul Thakur played for MS Dhoni-led franchise Chennai Super Kings where he was a player to watch out for.
Apart from Shardul Thakur, the wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat and Mandeep Singh are also on the radar whom Delhi Capitals are looking to release before the mini-auction. KS Bharat did not get a chance to make it into the playing XI but players. Mandeep Singh who got 3 games in his favor only managed to score 18 runs.
