Delhi Capitals has announced the captain for the IPL 2023 and the batter who has replaced Rishabh Pant from Skipper’s role Australian star David Warner.
It has been reported that head coach Ricky Ponting and Delhi Capitals have managed to agree upon Choosing Warner as the captain for the upcoming season looking at the experience he carries with him. DC’s regular captain Rishabh Pant met with a horrible accident last year and he is still recovering from it.
Warner has previously served as interim captain for a few matches during his initial tenure with the Capitals franchise, which was then known as the Delhi Daredevils, between 2009 and 2013. This is Warner’s second stint as the Capitals’ captain. In 2014, David Warner moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad and later he was appointed as its captain.
Unlike other captains, David Warner never felt under pressure due to captaincy and has scored 2840 runs with an impressive average of 47.33.
During the previous IPL season, Warner emerged as the top run-scorer for the Capitals, scoring 432 runs at an average of 48 with an impressive strike rate of 150.52. He also recorded five half-centuries.
Delhi Capitals will look to perform superbly and clinch their first IPL title. Indian all-rounder who has been absolutely brilliant in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy is the new vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals.
