IPL 2023: CSK Ropes In This South African Player As The Replacement Of Injured Kyle Jamieson

Chennai Super Kings have announced the replacement of the New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson with South African bowler Sisanda Magala for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Jamieson is still recovering from a back injury, and Magala will be joining the team at his auction price of INR 50 lakhs.

Chennai Super Kings had bought Kyle Jamieson for a sum of INR 1 crore in the IPL auction. Jamieson was also included in New Zealand’s Test squad for a two-match series against England, but unfortunately, he was unable to participate due to his injury.

An official statement reads, “Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South Africa pacer Sisanda Magala as a replacement for New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.”

“Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 Crore.”

“His replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game. Though he has played just 4 T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation for being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 Lakh,” the statement added.

Magala has played a total of 127 T20 matches, where he has contributed with both bat and ball. He has scored 735 runs, including two half-centuries, and has also taken 136 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls.

Sisanda Magala was a member of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team that won the SA20 T20 league which was captained by Aiden Markram. In the tournament, Magala played 12 matches and took 14 wickets at an economy rate of 8.68.
