After Chennai Super Kings secured a 15-run victory over the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 on Tuesday. With this win, Chennai Super Kings has entered into the final of IPL 2023. After the match, pacer Deepak Chahar comically teased his teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad for once again receiving the best catch award.
For their exceptional performance, Gaikwad earned the Player of the Match award as he scored a half-century and with this CSK reached a total of 172 runs. While fielding he grabbed an exceptional catch of Vijay Shankar diving all along the ground. This happened in the 18th over of the match when Matheesha Pathirana was bowling. For this superb catch, he was given the best catch award.
IPL released a video in which Deepak Chahar claimed that Gaikwad overshadowed his catch that he took on the last ball of the 20th over against the hit of Mohammed Shami.
Chahar said, “Ruturaj Gaikwad is a shameless person, he took the award for the best catch once again, I thought I should have won it. So give me one of your awards.”
Gaikwad replied to Chahar and said, “First and foremost, the effort matters. My catch was a diving effort, that too in a crucial situation, your catch was taken after the match was done. But congrats to you, it was a really good catch, you have made a good return since coming back from injury.”
Now Chennai Super Kings will face the winner of Qualifier 2 in the final which will happen on May 28th in Ahmedabad.
