IPL 2023: Aakash Chopra Targets Ricky Ponting And Sourav Ganguly, Asks DC Management To Remove The Coaching Staff

The former Indian opener and now a successful commentator Aakash Chopra has suggested that Delhi Capitals may need to find a new captain and coaching staff for the next season after their loss to CSK. After this 27-run loss to Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals are almost out of the race for the playoffs.

At the start of the season, as Rishabh Pant was out from the tournament, Delhi Capitals announced David Warner as their captain for IPL 2023. However, Warner failed to create the same magic he did for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The management and coaching staff of Delhi Capitals also looked fragile and it was clearly visible in their decision-making.

The Capitals did not perform according to their expectation. They had a poor start of the season losing their first five matches. They showed some improvement in their next five games by winning four of them, but their chances of qualifying for the playoffs have been dashed after losing to CSK on Wednesday.

Speaking to his Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said that the management needs to change their captain next year and without any doubt they should also go for better coaching staff.

“Delhi – I feel the season is over now because you will be able to reach 14 points and your net run rate is very ordinary in any case. It is probably the time for churning there. Delhi might have to change their coaching staff and captain in the coming year,” said Chopra.

Giving his suggestions to the coaching staff, the former KKR opener said,”If they don’t do that, I will be extremely surprised. This is just my personal opinion. Nothing against anyone to be very honest, but this year’s strategies have been slightly beyond my understanding.”

The commentator talked about the strategy of DC staff and management. He raised questions about how they went on to use Axar Patel and Sarfaraz Khan. He also notified how abruptly Aman Khan, Lalit Yadav, and Ripal Patel were used by the Delhi Capitals management.

How to play on Dream11 ?

“When Delhi look back and see, they should definitely ask the question that what their players did was on one side, but what is your think tank doing? You don’t use Axar Patel properly. You played Sarfaraz Khan, then dropped him and after that, he was in and out.”

“You played Priyam Garg an odd match. Aman Khan plays well and you dropped him down the order. You played Lalit Yadav but you kept him down the order and sent Ripal Patel ahead of them. What are you doing? Sometimes it just defies logic,” said Chopra.
