INDW vs AUSW: India Creates History, Gets Their First Test Victory Against Australia

In the solo test match between India and Australia played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, the Indian Women’s cricket team created history by beating the giant Australian team by eight wickets.

On Sunday, December 24, after having dominated for the first three days, India swiftly concluded proceedings. Pooja Vastrakar made an impact in her very first over on the final day of the Test match, dismissing Ashleigh Gardner. Australia couldn’t add to their overnight score and witnessed the departure of one of their experienced players. Annabel Sutherland and Jess Jonassen attempted to put up a resistance, but a double-wicket over from spinner Sneh Rana led to Australia’s downfall in the 101st over of their second innings.

As India continued their dominance in the first hour of play, Australia faced dwindling hopes. This proved to be accurate as Rajeshwari Gaikwad dismantled the Australian tail, concluding their second innings with a total of just 261 runs.

India needed just 75 runs to win which they achieved in 18.4 overs at the loss of two wickets. Smriti Mandhana scored the highest 38 runs for India.

Brief Score :

AUSW(1st Inning): 219-10 (77.4 Ov)
IND (1st Inning): 406-10 (126.3 Ov)

AUSW(2nd Inning): 261-10 (105.4 Ov)
IND (2nd Inning): 75-2 (18.4 Ov)

For clinching six wickets in the game, Sneh Rana has been appointed as the player of the match.
