India and Pakistan enjoy the fiercest, most exciting rivalry in all of cricket. In the Asia Cup 2022, the two teams faced off against one another twice, which obviously attracted the most interest and money.
The tension is amplified even more when the high-stakes match takes place in the World Cup. The opening match of the T20 World Cup 2022 between Team India and Pakistan will take place on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
If sources are to be believed, Team India may travel to Pakistan to play cricket after so many years. The last time the Indian cricket team visited Pakistan was back in 2008 when the PCB hosted the Asia Cup. The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan happened way back in 2012 in India. Since then all efforts to bring back things to normalcy have gone in vain due to political tension between the neighboring countries.
In the second part of 2023, Pakistan will host the 50-over Asia Cup, with India hosting the World Cup immediately after. But based on the AGM statement, the BCCI appears willing to visit Pakistan, which has been off limits since 2008 when India participated in an Asia Cup.

The BCCI officials declined to comment when asked, but it is significant since Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The BCCI source said, “It will be subject to the clearance of the Government of India as always.” The BCCI comment appears to indicate otherwise, although there is always the option of holding the event in the UAE, like this year’s Asia Cup.
Cricket fans from both countries would be excited if the Indian tour to Pakistan comes to reality.
