One of the biggest events that is going to be held this year in cricket is the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, which is set to take place in June as 20 teams are up for battle against each other for glory.
The USA and West Indies are set to host the mega-showpiece event.
Speaking on the same occasion, former West Indies opener Chris Gayle said that the T-20 World Cup would help cricket break into the American sports market.
Gayle said that the 2021 World Cup is going to be huge for the USA as it is going to bring people from all over the world to watch matches. Gayle also pointed out the recent success of the T-20 tournament, which was held in the USA.
One of the biggest attractions of the T20 World Cup is going to be a match between two arch rivals, India and Pakistan, whose match tickets are going to be sold out, with the stadium having a capacity of 34,000 matches. Speaking about the same, Gayle said that “India vs. Pakistan is going to be phenomenal and one of the pivotal movements for cricket in the United States.”
The West Indies are a team with a successful history in limited-overs cricket but failed to qualify for the last 50-over World Cup. The T20 World Cup gives the West Indies a chance to compete for silverware on a global level.
Gayle expressed a personal desire to see the man in maroon make it to the final, which will be held in Barbados on June 29, emphasizing the potential for anything to happen in the finals.
The T20 World Cup will start on June 1, with India playing their opening match of the tournament on June 5.
