In the super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2023 between India and Pakistan the match will now be played on the reserve day tomorrow. India had scored 147 runs for the loss of 2 wickets when rain interrupted the match in the 24.1 over. After the rain stopped, it took a massive amount of time for the ground staff to dry the field. Just as the field was ready, rain returned. In the end, the umpires rescheduled the match to the reserve day. This will be the first time India will play an ODI match on the reserve day since the 2019 World Cup semifinal.
While batting first at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India had scored 147 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 24.1 overs when rain interrupted the match. When the rain came, Virat Kohli was batting at 8 runs off 16 balls, and KL Rahul had scored 17 runs off 28 balls. Due to the rain, the match had to be stopped and it will now be played on the reserve day tomorrow.
From the Indian side, captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided an excellent start by stitching a partnership of 121 runs for the first wicket. Rohit played a brilliant innings of 56 runs with the help of 6 boundaries and 4 sixes in 49 balls. On the other hand, Gill played a superb knock of 58.
