IND vs AUS, 1st T20I: Suryakumar Yadav Praises Rinku Singh After His Heroic Knock Against Australia

The stand-in captain for team India for the five-match T20I series Australia has praised Rinku Singh, stating that the left-handed batsman played a role in easing his nerves during the record-breaking run chase in Vizag on November 23. In the match, in Visakhapatnam, team India beat Australia by two wickets in a thriller.

Rinku played a crucial role in India’s exciting triumph over Australia in the first T20 International of a five-match series.

After losing the toss Australia came to bat first and put on a total of 208 runs at the loss of three wickets in all 20 overs. For the Aussies, Josh Inglis got 110 runs in just 50 balls. While chasing the target, India faced some initial jerks in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal but ultimately won the match on the last ball of the inning by two wickets.

Playing as a finisher for the Indian T20 team, Rinku exhibited his proficiency under pressure. Entering the fray towards the conclusion of the innings, he scored an unbeaten 22 runs from a mere 14 deliveries.

Under intense pressure, Rinku managed to hit a six off the last ball of the match. However, this crucial last-ball six didn’t contribute to India’s total score as it was deemed a no-ball from Sean Abbott. However, Rinku played a decisive role in guiding India to victory with two wickets to spare.

During the post-match presentation, Suryakumar expressed his appreciation for the players and gave special recognition to Rinku. The stand-in captain highlighted that the situation was tailor-made for the left-hander.

Suryakumar Yadav said, “Was great to see how the boys kept their nerves. Was great to see Rinku, the situation was tailor-made for him. He was calm and collected, which calmed me down a little bit. Incredible achievement from the bowlers to restrict them to this total after the 16th over.”
