In The Spotlight: Langer, Kirsten, and Others In Talks For Pakistan’s Head Coach Role

After former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson rejected PCBs offer to become Pakistan’s next head coach,. The Pakistan Cricket Board is now in touch with several foreign coaches, like Justin Langer, Gary Kristen, and many others, to appoint them as the new head coaches of Pakistan’s men’s team.

According to a local newspaper in Pakistan, PCB, I’m in touch with several high-profile international coaches like Langer and Kristen Phill Simmons.

PCB’s Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has already made it clear that he wants a foreign coaching staff to work with the Pakistan cricket team, keeping the upcoming T-20 World Cup and champions trophy in mind.

Zaka Ashraf, the former chairman, had sacked Micky Auther and his support staff after the team’s disastrous performance in the World Cup, which was scheduled in India.

The foreign coaches were sacked from their positions with a three-month salary as part of the agreement.

A PCB board official said, “It is because of the PCB’s poor track record in appointing and sacking coaches—foreign and local—in the past that others are now very reluctant to accept any offer from the PCB.”
