Young Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw created history with his explosive batting performance on Wednesday, August 9, during the Royal London One-Day Cup match at Northampton’s County Ground. Playing against Somerset, Shaw played a sensational knock of 244 runs off 153 balls with the help of 28 fours and 11 sixes.
With the help of Prithvi’s innings, Northamptonshire scored a massive total of 415 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. In response, Somerset managed to score 328 and bundled out in 45.1 overs.
Shaw last represented India in July 2021, expressing that he is not really concerned about making a comeback to the Indian team. Instead, his primary focus is on making the most of their time in England and gaining experience of playing in such tournaments.
According to India Today, Prithvi Shaw said,”Definitely experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here, have a good time with the players over here and the support staff. Northamptonshire has given me this opportunity… they’re really looking after me. I’m really enjoying it.”
He further added,”The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today so it was really looking good. You know when an inside edge doesn’t get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn’t look back after that.”
