A fire erupted at the historic stadium of Kolkata, Eden Gardens just before the highly anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled for October 5 in India. The incident took place on Wednesday night after which the fire department was notified. The situation was swiftly brought under control by the team of firefighters.
According to sources, the fire is believed to have started due to a short circuit in the false ceiling of the venue’s dressing room. Workers involved in the venue’s renovation quickly noticed the problem and alerted the fire station after which two fire engines were called to lower down the flame.
The secretary of Cricket Association Of Bengal, Debabrata Das, reached the place and said that the matter will be investigated before moving to any game. He said that incidents like this are a huge concern especially before something like the ODI World Cup.
Talking about the fixtures at the Eden Garden in this World Cup. Five matches at Eden Gardens will be played which also includes the intense semi-final 2 scheduled for Thursday, November 16. Besides the knockout game, the iconic venue will host matches like England-Pakistan and India-South Africa.
