ICC WT20 2022 Super 12: ZIM vs RSA Match Report- Zimbabwe and South Africa share a point in a rain-ridden match

Match No. 18 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 was played between Zimbabwe and South Africa on 24 October, Monday in Hobart. In a match interrupted by rain, the innings were reduced to 9 over per side. Zimbabwe scored 79 runs losing 5 wickets. South Africa made 51 runs without losing any wickets before the rain start pouring again. Finally, the game was officially declared ‘No Result’.

Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first. In the overcast conditions, Zimbabwe found it difficult to make runs. They were put under pressure with reduced overs and a South African pace attack. Wesley Madhevere scored 35 runs in 18 balls not out to help Zimbabwe finish on a respectable total.

For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi took 2 wickets for 20 runs in 2 overs. Wayne Parnell and Anrich Nortje took 1 wicket each.

South Africa came into a chase with dark clouds on top and with a fear of losing a point. Opener Quinten de Kock smashed boundaries from the first ball. He smashed 5 boundaries in the first over.
But unfortunately, the drizzle got stronger and minimum innings of 5 over could not be completed.
It was officially declared No Result with both teams sharing 1 point each
