ICC T20I Rankings: Virat Jumps Long After Melbourne Heroics, Suryakumar Loses One Spot

Virat Kohli was out of form for a couple of years but before the T20 World Cup, their century against Afghanistan again took him to the limelight. After that century in Asia Cup, Virat Kohli again played a cracking inning of 82* runs against the arch-rivals Pakistan in the first encounter of team India.

At a crowded Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, the top-order batsman smashed an unbeaten 82 off 53 with six fours and four fours to help organize a successful chase of 160. And according to the most recent ICC rankings update, Kohli has returned to the top-10 rankings of T20 hitters as a result of his performance.
Mohammad Rizwan, the Pakistan opener, remains to be at the top of the rankings, with Virat Kohli moving up five ranks to ninth. New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who went 92 not out against world champion Australia in the Super 12 opener, has emerged as a new contender for the top spot. He has moved up three spots to second place. Star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has dropped to the third position as a result. At the Sydney Cricket Ground, another New Zealand opener, Finn Allen, shined against Australia. He was on fire during a 16-ball, 42-run stay that laid the groundwork for a huge score.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, is ranked fourth, and Aiden Markram of South Africa rounds out the top five.
