“ICC should investigate the balls used…”: Former Pakistani Cricketer Demands Investigation On Indian Bowlers

In the 33rd match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian pacers, namely Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, showcased a remarkable bowling performance. They dismantled the Sri Lankan batting line-up, ultimately bundling them out for a mere 55 runs. The emphatic victory by 302 runs left cricket enthusiasts in awe.

Following the resounding victory, Hasan Raza made a statement that sent shockwaves through the cricketing world. He suggested that the ICC investigate the cricket balls used by the Indian bowlers in the World Cup. Raza expressed suspicions that the balls appeared to have an additional layer of hardness, which he believed was contributing to the extraordinary swing and bounce exhibited by the Indian bowlers.

Speaking to a Pakistan news channel, Hasan Raza voiced his concerns, stating, “The ball is swinging and bouncing extraordinarily by Indian bowlers. There seems to be extra hardness and layer on those balls. ICC should investigate the balls used by Indian bowlers in the World Cup.”

The match itself was a testament to the prowess of the Indian pacers. Jasprit Bumrah set the tone by dismissing Pathum Nissanka for a duck on the first ball of the innings. Mohammed Siraj followed suit by striking on his first ball, sending Dimuth Karunaratne back to the pavilion. In the same over, he picked up the wicket of Sadeera Samarawickrama, leaving the Sri Lankan team reeling at 2/3.

Mohammed Shami, who has been in scintillating form, picked up his second five-wicket haul in the ongoing tournament. His remarkable spell saw him grabbing five wickets while conceding 18 runs in his five overs. The victory was sealed in 19.4 overs when Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Dilshan Madushanka.

After being named the player of the match, Mohammed Shami shared his thoughts on India’s bowling performance. He emphasized the team’s excellent rhythm and unity, highlighting the significance of maintaining good form in a major tournament.

Shami stated, “Our bowling is in good shape, and with the kind of rhythm (talking about the form of the pacers) that we are in, everyone is enjoying, and everyone is happy for each other’s success. More importantly, we are bowling as a unit, and that’s the result you are getting to see. I always try to bowl in good areas and be in good rhythm. In big tournaments, once the rhythm goes away, it’s very tough to get it back.”
