“I have been playing continuously for the past few months and credit to him…”: Mohammed Siraj Attributed His Success To This Indian Team Member

Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional performance in the second Test against West Indies, where he claimed a five-wicket haul on a flat track, has earned him well-deserved praise. The premier pacer attributed his success to the team’s Strength & Conditioning Coach, Soham Desai, who played a crucial role in keeping him fit and prepared for the challenges of continuous cricket.

Expressing his delight with the performance, Siraj acknowledged the difficulty of taking wickets on a flat pitch. He recognized Soham Desai’s efforts in working on his fitness and ensuring he remained in top shape despite playing consistently over the past few months. The hard work and support from the coach proved to be instrumental in Siraj’s ability to excel in the second Test.

“I am really happy with the performance because it’s not easy to take wickets on a flat track. A big thanks to Soham bhai, who has worked on my fitness. I have been playing continuously for the past few months and credit to Soham bhai for putting in hard work and taking care of me,” Siraj said in the press conference after the day’s play.

Leading the pace attack without senior players, Siraj enthusiastically embraced the responsibility. He revealed his enjoyment in being entrusted with the crucial role and the challenges that come with it. Siraj’s eagerness to accept responsibility and face every challenge head-on demonstrates his dedication to the game and his team.

“I am happy with my performance as I executed my plans well when the reverse swing was on offer. To be honest, I enjoy when the responsibility has been put on my shoulders when senior bowlers are missing. I love entering the game with responsibility and I want to accept every challenge coming my way,” he added.

Elaborating on his plans for the flat track that led to his success on Day 4, Siraj emphasized the importance of bowling on the stump line and seeking seam movement. He executed his plans well, making the most of the reverse swing. However, he remained pragmatic about the changing conditions on Day 5, with the ball getting old, and highlighted the need to keep things simple and avoid conceding runs.

“My plan was simple to bowl the stump line and was hoping to get the seam movement and I stuck to that. The ball was new so we also got some swing but it won’t be the same on Day 5 as the ball has gotten old so the play will be to keep it simple and not leak runs,” he added.

Siraj’s brilliant performance and ability to rise to the occasion in challenging situations highlight his potential as a key player in the Indian cricket team’s fast bowling department. As he continues to work on his fitness and refine his skills, fans can look forward to witnessing more remarkable displays of bowling prowess from the talented pacer in the future. With the guidance of dedicated coaches like Soham Desai and the team’s unwavering support, Mohammed Siraj is poised to leave a lasting impact on the world of cricket.
