“I Don’t Really Look At It As Pressure Or Responsibility Because As A Child..’, Jasprit Bumrah On His Performance For India

Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was out from the cricket field for almost a year as he was suffering from a back injury. The bowler then made his comeback during his Ireland series and now he is the Indian pace attack in the ongoing World Cup.

The pacer shared his approach to handling the pressure of high expectations. Bumrah mentioned that having been part of international cricket for several years, he aims to leverage his experience effectively. He emphasized that the weight of expectations can burden a player and that’s why he strives not to be unduly affected by it.

While talking to ICC after the match against Pakistan, Bumrah said,”I don’t really look at it as pressure or responsibility because as a child I wanted to be a cricketer. I wanted to play for India. I wanted to do the difficult job. I wanted to make my team win. So that is what I’m doing.”

“I’ve learned a lot over the years. I tried to use my experience, I’ve played a lot in this country. So you use my experience and try to help the team as much as you can because if you think about pressure and expectation and responsibility, you won’t be able to perform with that baggage of expectation,” the Gujarat pacer added.

Jasprit Bumrah has been in outstanding form in the current ODI World Cup 2023. He is sitting at the top spot for the most wickets taken in the tournament and has claimed eight wickets in three matches.
