“I can’t predict…”Gautam Gambhir finally breaks silence on being appointed as team India’s head Coach

When asked if he will be the next head coach of the Indian cricket team, former player Gautam Gambhir didn’t give a clear answer on Friday. He said he doesn’t think too far into the future, but he shared his coaching beliefs, which focus on putting the team first. Gambhir talked at an event for the Indian Chamber of Commerce. He had a virtual meeting with the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee earlier this week and is thought to be a possible choice for India’s next head coach when Rahul Dravid’s term ends after the T20 World Cup in the West Indies.

However, Gambhir, who helped KKR win their third IPL title as a team mentor, didn’t say much when asked about his chances of becoming the head coach.

“I can’t predict the future. You’re asking me hard questions,” he explained.

“It’s hard to give an answer now. I’m just glad to be here, having completed a great trip, and I think we should celebrate that. I’m feeling really good at the moment,” Gambhir shared during a ‘Rise To Leadership’ seminar.

Gambhir explained that prioritizing the team over individuals is the foundation of his coaching approach.

“Focusing on the team before any individual will lead to success. It might not happen immediately, but eventually, it will work out,” he advised.

“However, if you focus on helping a few individuals instead, the team will suffer. My role isn’t to boost individual performances. My goal, as a mentor, is to help KKR win,” Gambhir stated, acknowledging the praise he received for his contribution to KKR’s success this year.

“My guiding principle is putting the team first. I believe in a team-first minds.

“But if you begin to think about helping one or two people do well, your team will be hurt.” “My role isn’t to help individuals succeed. My role, as a mentor, is to help KKR win,” said Gambhir, who was praised for his part in KKR’s winning streak this year.

“For me, the main idea is to put the team first. I believe that a team-first mindset is the most important idea in any team sport,” he explained.
