‘I Approached Head Coach And Requested Him To Drop Me From The Team’

The outstanding wicketkeeper batter of Pakistan Mohammed Rizwan has revealed that after continuous failure for his team he asked the members of Pakistan Cricket Management to drop him from the test series against New Zealand.

After the poor form during the England series, many former cricketers criticised Rizwan and raised questions over his batting approach. Let us tell you that Pakistan had to face a whitewash against England.

Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who returned to the Test team at the good age of 35, filled the role of Rizwan. Ahmed performed remarkably well in the Test series, scoring 335 runs in two games. He hit a century in one of them and three half-centuries in three innings.

Speaking to the Cricket Pakistan website, Rizwan said that he had personally approached Saqlain Mushtaq and requested to be removed from the Test squad.

The wicket-keeper batter said,”You can ask the head coach Saqlain Mushtaq what I told him after the end of the England Test series. I was happy to see Sarfaraz perform because that is what I wanted. I personally thought that since I wasn’t able to perform, I didn’t deserve to play in the next series.”

Speaking of the former Pakistan captain, Rizwan expressed his happiness at Sarfaraz’s return to international prominence.

The player said,“Sarfaraz has been performing in domestic and deserves his chance now. So I was happy to see Sarfaraz perform because I asked for his inclusion. Whoever performs best for Pakistan deserves to play.”
