History created in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23. Delhi defeated Mumbai for the first time in the 43 years of the Ranji Trophy history on Friday at Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi.
The ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy has been worst for Delhi because they have played 5 matches in which 3 of them were lost and 2 ended on drawn. Now, this win against all mighty Mumbai, the team who have won the trophy 41 times, should give some confidence to the team Delhi.
Due to the poor performance of Delhi in first-class cricket, selectors have sacked many captains one by one. Even the winning skipper Himmat Singh was also dropped in a few games.
Earlier in the match, Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai scored 293 in the first innings with the help of Sarfaraz’s 125 runs off 155 balls with the help of 16 fours and 4 sixes. However, Delhi batted well in the 1st innings; with the help of the 114 runs of V Rawal and skipper Himmat’s 85 runs, they set 369 runs on the board.
Even the second innings of the Mumbai wasn’t good, and they scored just 170 runs. Delhi chased down the total with 8 wickets and registered the first win of the season.
