Historic moment: Ayush Badoni, Arshad Khan set new IPL record after 10 years

The KL Rahul army, for the first time in the history of the IPL, failed to defend a score of 160+ in IPL history. Delhi Capitals chased down LSG’s target of 168 and won the match by 7 wickets. It was Jake Fraser-McGurk (55) and Rishabh Pant (41) who helped Delhi register their seventh win of the season.

However, things could have been more horrifying for LSG if Ayush Badoni had not played that knock and gotten that crucial partnership with Arshad Khan.

After electing to bat, LsG were reduced to 94/7, and in such a crunch situation, Ayush Badoni, along with Arshad Khan, added 73 runs for the eighth wicket.
The duo broke the 10-year-old record of Brad Hodge and James Faulkner, who had added 69 runs for the eighth wicket against the Mumbai Indians in 2014.

James Faulkner Brad Hodge 69
Heinrich Klaasen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 69.

When Faulkner joined hands with Brad Hodge, the Royals were in a similar situation; they were reduced to 75/7 before this partnership took the Royals to a competitive score of 153.

This partnership between Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan is the second-highest in IPL history for the eighth wicket. The highest partnership is between Alzari Joseph and Rashid Khan, who added 88 runs against the Mumbai Indians.
