‘He Will Not Get A Chance In The Playing XI’, Dinesh Karthik Strong Prediction On This Budding Opener

Team India is all set to play the first test of the two-match test series on December 14 at Chattogram. For this series, some young faces have been added to the squad and Indian captain Rohit Sharma who is out from the series with his injured thumb has been replaced by Abhimanyu Easwaran, the stylish opener from West Bengal.

Indian wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik has now picked the Indian team for the 1st test against Bangladesh. Karthik has said that there is very less chance that Abhimanyu will break into the playing XI as India already has Shubman Gill and KL Rahul as the opener choices. However, Dinesh Karthik feels that sooner or later, the batter will get the chance in team India.

While talking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “Abhimanyu Easwaran has been around the circuit for some time now, has done really well, and now deservingly gets his opportunity. He might not play in the XI because of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill… for sure they will open. I can promise you he’s another guy who has been constantly banging at the door. He has been a very good servant for Bengal in the four or five seasons. His dad is someone who has a fantastic ground in Dehradun and has fond memories of going there. That kid is somebody who has worked so hard, I’ve seen him, I’ve played with him, practice with him. I have seen how hard he works.”

Easwaran had a great series against Bangladesh A where he smashed back-to-back centuries. He gathered 299 runs in two matches. Surprisingly, Easwaran is one of those players who has not registered his name in the Indian Premier League.
