After the first ODI against Australia, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has praised the devastating batter Suryakumar Yadav for his outstanding fifty against the Aussies. He feels that Yadav is an X-factor for the team and he can create fear in the minds of opponents. Not only this, the former cricketer praised the Indian management for backing Suryakumar Yadav even after his continuous struggle in the ODI format.
After a period of not achieving a single half-century in ODIs since February 2022, Surya contributed 50 runs off 49 balls with the help of five fours and one six against Australia in Mohali.
After Mohammed Shami’s impressive performance with a five-wicket haul that restricted Australia to 276 runs, Suryakumar Yadav contributed with the bat and stitched a partnership with KL Rahul (58* off 63) to add 80 runs for the fifth wicket.
While giving his thoughts on the superb knock of Suryakumar Yadav, Sehwag said, “Happy for @surya_14kumar. He is surely an ex-factor. Not many players have the ability to play in the gear that he can and he surely has the game to create fear in the minds of opposition. Great that we have persisted with him and he will be an asset. With this 5-wicket win against Australia, India has now reached the number-one spot in the ICC ODI Ranking. With two matches more to go, the second one will be played at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
