Veteran Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik had talked about the future of Indian cricket and in the same queue he had named a player who deserved to be the Indian captain. Karthik wants veteran Indian spinner R Ashwin to lead the B team of India in the Asian games. It is scheduled to be played from September 23 to October 8 and the RCB wicketkeeper has said that Ashwin should captain India at least for one time in his career.
It is important to mention that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to send a young team due to the fact that the Asian Games will take place at the same time as the 50-over World Cup.
R Ashwin is currently serving India in the longest format of the game only. The bowler played his last ODI match against South Africa which was played at Paarl in January 2022.
While talking to PTI, Karthik said,”(Ravichandran) Ashwin is arguably one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game. I think he deserves to captain India once, I genuinely believe that he has earned the right to be a captain of Team India.”
However, if we talk about the advanced level of Cricket, Ashwin has captained Punjab Kings for 28 matches in which he has won 12 and lost the rest of the matches.
