In India’s Group A match against Pakistan at the T20 World Cup 2024, Jasprit Bumrah proved to be the hero. In a low-scoring thriller, Bumrah led India to a 6-run victory over Pakistan with a brilliant 4-over session that saw him take 3 wickets for only 14 runs. After Bumrah’s game-winning performance, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan lavished him with adulation. In front of players like Zaheer Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pathan dubbed Bumrah the best white-ball bowler India has ever produced.
An ecstatic Pathan compared Bumrah to an Indian bank while speaking on Star Sports during the India vs. Pakistan match at Nassau County International Stadium in New York. Bumrah was deemed by Pathan to be India’s most secure bowler in the Twenty20 international format.
“I said in the commentary box before Jasprit Bumrah was about to bowl his last two overs I said that he is an Indian bank. He is so safe. He is such a great bowler that you know that any time he will come to bowl he will bowl those lines and lengths and which will keep the Indian team in the game and that’s a special ability,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports after the game.
“He is the best white ball Indian bowler in the history of the game and that’s period. No one comes close to him. He is the best white ball bowler in the history of Indian cricket. This is Jasprit Bumrah for you,” Pathan concluded.
Pakistan is in danger of being ousted from the T20 World Cup in 2024 following the defeat.
