In the final of the 16th edition of Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings will face Gujarat Titans on May 28 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is the 10th final of Chennai Super Kings and overall MS Dhoni is playing his 11th final of this cash-rich league.
MS Dhoni has established himself as the legendary captain and he has solidified his legacy in the IPL. Now he will look to guide Chennai Super Kings for the fifth IPL title. In this final, all the fans will be looking at MS Dhoni and his smart tactics against the Gujarat Titans.
Before the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans clash, Tom Moody expressed his admiration for the legendary captain of the four-time champions. When asked about the greatest captain in the last 50 years, Moody clearly chose MS Dhoni for this role.
While talking to ESPNcricinfo, Tom Moody said, “MS Dhoni hands down in my view is the best T20 captain we have ever seen. And he has shown examples of that this year. And if you are talking about Test cricket, I would not put MS Dhoni in that category.”
If MS Dhoni manages to win the trophy, it will be the fifth title for the Chennai Super Kings and they will equal the record of Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians.
In the first qualifier, Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by a margin of 15 runs at Chepauk to move ahead into the 10th final. In this match, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja performed brilliantly to take their team home.
On the other hand, after losing qualifier 1 in the hands of CSK, GT beat Mumbai Indians by 62 runs to enter the final. In this match, the young opener Shubman Gill scored a superb hundred(129).
