According to former Indian legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar, Ravindra Jadeja has the potential to be the best cricketer currently in the world. He praised the comprehensive skills of Jadeja which he gives to the team with his all-round approach.
Jadeja has been crucial for the Indian Test team, particularly since 2019, and his innings of 87 runs from 180 balls against England in the current Test in Hyderabad has once again highlighted his importance. Gavaskar highlighted the major value Jadeja brings to the team across all three departments, in addition to his sense of humor in the dressing room.
While commenting on Jadeja, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Jadeja is probably the best cricketer in the world with the contribution he makes with bat, ball, and in the field. He adds so much value to the team and by all accounts he is an absolute delight in the changing room as well.”
Jadeja might consider himself unlucky as he was given out LBW by the on-field umpire and later confirmed by the third umpire, even though there was sufficient ambiguity to suggest that the ball might have grazed the edge of his bat before making contact with his pad.
After bundling out England on 246 runs, India scored 436 runs with the solid fifties of Yashasvi Jaiswal(80), KL Rahul(86) and Ravindra Jadeja(87).
