‘He Is Not Ben Stokes Or Hardik Pandya’, Salman Butt Scolds Pak Fans For Having High Hopes From This Cricketer

Former Pakistan left-handed batter Salman Butt suggests that it is important not to place early expectations on the 27-year-old Aamer Jamal in his international cricket career.

Aamer Jamal emerged as a standout performer for Pakistan in the three-match Test series against Australia. In his debut Test series, he excelled as the leading wicket-taker for the team where he claimed 18 wickets in six innings. Additionally, batting at No. 9, he captivated viewers with an impressive knock of 82 runs in the third Test in Sydney.

Salman Butt expresses the view that expecting Aamer Jamal to bat at No. 6 in T20Is solely based on one impressive knock wouldn’t be fair. The former Pakistan skipper suggests that comparisons with established all-rounders like Hardik Pandya or Ben Stokes are premature, emphasising that Jamal’s consistency is yet to be thoroughly assessed.

While speaking on his youtube Channel, Salman Butt said,”Please let him play a few more matches. He has not become Hardik Pandya or Ben Stokes. If a player does something good, we all expect him to do everything, and then when he fails, we say he should be removed. He played a good knock and has the talent, but it takes more than talent to be consistent. Let him perform for at least a year.”

Pakistan has announced a 16-member squad for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. Team director Mohammad Hafeez has hinted at the possibility of resting star batter Babar Azam for a few games to effectively manage his workload.

On the matter of resting the players, Salman Butt said,”In some cases, India don’t even pick the players in the squad with whom they want to rest. They make their squad accordingly and don’t call the big players if they aren’t going to play. Pakistan, on the other hand, don’t have that clarity. We want to make everyone happy. Pakistan have sent so many guys that if someone contests an election, he will win just by their votes.”
