After getting tremendous success in the shortest format of cricket, Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav is trying his best to get the same amount of success in the ODI and longest format of cricket. His performance in the previous series against Sri Lanka was overwhelming; he scored his 3rd T20I hundreds of his career in the last T20I match.
Currently, he was in the ODI squad against the Sri-Lanka, which was won by the Indian team by 3-0. He played only one match at no. 6 and scored 4 runs in 4 balls. However, previously, he got a place in the ODI squad against Bangladesh but hasn’t played any matches.
Looking at the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 and Surya’s performance in the T20I cricket, former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa explained that in the upcoming world cup, Surya Kumar Yadav would be the X factor for me of the Indian team.
“Everyone can be an X-factor in the upcoming World Cup, but Surya Kumar Yadav is at the top of my list. Although he didn’t play much in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, I feel like players who are getting regular chances will be feeling the pressure to keep performing because if they don’t perform, they can’t keep Surya out for a long time” said Robin Uthappa.
Further, Robin praised India’s rising batter and stated he could bat in any zone. He has done a lot of hard work to reach this stage of his career, and his batting skills make him an outstanding player in the Indian cricket team.
“Surya is a multi-utility player, a very good timer of the ball and a sheer match-winner. He has been batting on a different level now and is the only batter in that zone right home. As a team-mate, who has played with him in the past, I feel very happy for Surya because he has done a lot of hard work to reach this stage of his career,” Uthappa further added.
