“Haven’t been able to…”Rahul Dravid’s massive statement on team India not winning ICC titles

Team India have started their ICC campaign once again on a brighter note as they have beaten Ireland by 8 wickets in their opening encounter.

At the Nassau County International Stadium in New York, the team captained by Rohit Sharma have beaten Ireland by a comprehensive manner.Rahul Dravid, India’s head coach, who is stepping down after the tournament, emphasized the team’s impressive results despite their recent troubles in the final stages. But the departing head coach of India acknowledged the team’s inability to pass the last obstacle.

“To be completely honest with you, I believe that we have performed incredibly well during these World Cup competitions. We’ve been incredibly consistent in terms of our behavior. Of course, reaching Australia’s semifinals (2022). In the World Test Championship, players must do very well throughout the cycle in order to get to the final once more. This is where it differs differently from other competitions. And then there was the World Cup for 50-overs, when we advanced to the final after a fantastic run. Thus, when it comes to our reliability and caliber of cricket, we have competed on par with some of the top teams in these major events.” At the press conference prior to the game, Dravid stated.

Additionally, Dravid emphasized that he wants his team to win games by playing to their abilities rather than worrying about the trophy jinx.

“Yes, we probably haven’t been able to get across the line in the knockout game. So, we just probably haven’t been able to execute in that last phase. So, hopefully we play good cricket to get ourselves into those positions again and then maybe play good cricket on the day to cross the line. The important thing is when you start these tournaments is not to think about that (trophy jinx), is to actually think about getting into those positions. You have to find yourselves in those positions where you are pushing for glory and that’s all you can do as a group and as a team,” he added.

Following the conclusion of the competition, Dravid’s contract will expire, and BCCI is currently looking for a new head coach. If the reports about the race for the position of new head coach are to be true, former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir is in the lead.
