Former Indian veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his opinion on the playing XI of India for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Harbhajan has said that Indian cricket management should not do any experiment with KL Rahul and he should be designated at number four in the upcoming marquee event.
The former cricketer highlighted that KL Rahul performed exceptionally well in the role during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh suggested that Rahul should maintain his position at No. 4 in the batting order and there could be an opportunity to experiment with Shreyas Iyer at No. 3.
Harbhajan shared these opinions on his youtube channel and said,”I hope Shreyas Iyer does well batting at No. 3. We cannot make him bat anywhere below that. KL Rahul has been fantastic at No. 4 and I don’t want his position to be changed. India should not demote him to No. 5 to give Shreyas Iyer or Suryakumar Yadav a chance. However, KL can choose to bat at No. 3, and Shreyas can be the No. 4.”
While giving his opinion on the playing XI of team India for the series against Australia, the former spinner said that Washington Sundar should be picked over R Ashwin. He said,”India will have to choose between Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin. I feel Sundar will get the nod because he was also called to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup final. He didn’t get much to do in that game. So, I think he should be India’s No. 8 in the first ODI.”

It is to be noted that KL Rahul will lead the ODI team in the absence of Rohit Sharma who is not the part of the first two games against Aussies.
