The former Indian veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked a player who should be the vice-captain of India in test cricket. According to Bhajji, that player is none but star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who would be the best vice-captain for India in Test cricket.
Harbhajan feels that Ravindra Jadeja should be the vice-captain of Team India in the ODIs as well. He said that the all-rounder is such a player who fits in all three formats of Rohit Sharma’s team.
KL Rahul was removed from the vice-captaincy post due to his poor performance in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India has not nominated a vice-captain for the next two matches. India has a 2-0 lead and has retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but Rohit Sharma’s team must maintain its winning streak to go to the World Test Championship final.
Harbhajan Singh claimed that Jadeja is undoubtedly the best all-rounder in recent years in Test. Bhajji feels that Jadeja’s consistency with both the bat and the ball should be recognized because Rahul’s spot is not sure in the playing XI as of now.
“India doesn’t have a vice-captain. Who can be your next vice-captain? I believe that a player who is captain or vice-captain should be a definite starter in the XI, regardless of whether you play in India or abroad,” Harbhajan asked in his YouTube show.
He further added, “I think that kind of a player is Ravindra Jadeja. I think the vice-captaincy now should be given to Jadeja because it will give him more responsibility. He has been playing really well. As a senior player, he has played for a long time. He is at the peak of his abilities in his batting and bowling.”
“I don’t think there is any all-rounder in the world who is better than Ravindra Jadeja. Ben Stokes is in that league, he is also a big-match player. I think if you look at his performance, his batting has clicked. It seems as if he will score in every match.
“He should get vice-captaincy in Tests. He can get it in ODIs. This is my thought,”
Jadeja was out of the team for five months due to his knee injury. He got this injury while having a practice session during Asia Cup 2022. While coming back to the team, Jadeja has now received 2 back to back man-of-the-match awards.
