Delhi Capitals named David Warner as their new skipper in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2023. In the absence of their last year’s captain Rishabh Pant, the Australian southpaw will lead this franchise in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel will be the team’s vice-captain in the following season of IPL. Delhi Capitals begin their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1.
Under the Captaincy of David Warner, SRH clinched the IPL title in 2016 by beating the Virat’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals.
The officials of the Delhi Capitals provided this information to Cricbuzz.
“David will be our captain, and Axar Patel will be his deputy,” a member of the ownership group of DC was quoted by Cricbuzz.
However, David had an elbow fracture in the Delhi Test and returned to Australia, but he will be all fine until the start of the Indian Premier League 2023. He was injured during the Delhi test on the bouncer of Md. Siraj. And now he is ruled out of the ongoing test series against the Indian team. Although, his name has been announced for the ODI series against India, which will be played after Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
