Harbhajan Singh Applied For Team India’s Head Coach? Here Is The Report

According to media reports, World Cup-winning former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has not applied for the head coach position of the senior men’s team. Sources have confirmed that Harbhajan is not interested in the job at this time. The BCCI is currently searching for a new head coach as Rahul Dravid’s tenure is expected to conclude after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Dravid will step down after the T20 World Cup, and the BCCI has called for new applications by May 27. The new head coach’s term will run from July 1, 2023, to December 31, 2027, covering the next 50-over Cricket World Cup. Rahul Dravid has been extended until June which includes T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Indian opener and current KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir is speculated to have been contacted, though neither he nor the BCCI officials have verified this information.

Harbhajan Singh said, “Normally these things pop up on social media before you even know about them, but there were a few little one-on-one conversations during the IPL, just to get a level of interest from me as to whether I would do it.”

“I’d love to be a senior coach of a national team, but with the other things that I have in my life and wanting to have a bit of time at home everyone knows if you take a job working with the Indian team you can’t be involved in an IPL team, so it would take that out of it as well.”
