GT vs MI, Qualifier 2: Vishnu Vinod Creates History, Becomes The 1st Player To Embrace This Unique Record In The History Of IPL

Qualifier 2 was played between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on 26th May at Narendra Modi Stadium in which Hardik Pandya’s side defeated Mumbai Indians by a huge margin of 62 runs.

In this match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first. With the brilliant century by Shubman Gill(129), Gujarat Titans posted 233 runs at the loss of three wickets. Sai Sudarshan also contributed with 43 runs along with captain Hardik Pandya who scored 28 runs.

While chasing this mammoth target, fans did not see Ishan Kishan opening the innings with Rohit Sharma. During this run chase, Vishnu Vinod of Mumbai Indians became the first player to play as a concussion substitute in the history of Indian Premier League.

When Gujarat Titans were batting, the Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan collided with the England bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan. After becoming the concussion substitute, Vishnu Vinod came to bat in place of Kishan. After Cameron Green was get out by Joshua Little, Vishnu appeared at the crease. The batter did not score much for the team and wad returned to pavilion after getting 5 runs in 7 balls.

This is second consecutive final for Gujarat Titans. The team first appeared in the tournament in IPL 2022 and lifted the title in the captaincy of Hardik Pandya beating Rajasthan Royals. This time Hardik Pandya’s side will face Chennai Super Kings in the final on 28th May.
