Record Alert: Shubman Gill Delivers 3 Major Milestones With His Remarkable Century, Joins The List Of Kohli, Buttler, Sehwag

The young opening batter of Gujarat Titans Shubman Gill continued his excellent form in the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 being played between Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians on Friday. He scored a remarkable century in just 49 balls which is the third of this season. In the match he scored 129 runs off 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 10 sixes. During this inning Shubman Gill set several records to his name. After 20 overs, Gujarat set a massive score of 233 runs after three wickets.

With this century, Gill moved to the third position in the list of players with the most centuries in a single season of the IPL. Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler hold the top position by scoring four centuries each in a season. Virat achieved this feat in IPL 2016, while Jos Buttler did it in IPL 2022.

Gill became the seventh batsman to score a century in the IPL playoffs. Before him, Murali Vijay, Virender Sehwag, Wriddhiman Saha, Shane Watson, Rajat Patidar, and Jos Buttler have scored tons in the advanced stage of IPL.

Apart from these records, Shubman Gill is now at the third spot in terms of scoring the most runs in a single IPL season. He is the second batsman after Virat Kohli to score over 800 runs in a single season of the IPL. Virat Kohli scored 973 runs in 16 matches with an impressive strike rate of 152.03 in IPL 2016. On the second spot is Jos Buttler of the Rajasthan Royals, who scored 863 runs in 17 matches with a strike rate of 149.05. So far Gill has scored 851 runs in 16 matches with a strike rate of 156.43.
