GT vs DC, IPL 2024: How And What Shubman Gill Reacted After The Humiliating Lost Against Delhi Capitals

GT faced a major defeat against DC at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, April 17th. Choosing to bowl first, DC’s pacers took total control of the batters of Gujarat Titans and bowled them out at 89 runs.

The openers for Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha did not get a good start and returned to the pavilion very early, from where the collapse of DC started happening. GT’s innings ended swiftly in just 17.3 overs, with only one of their top-order batters reaching double digits.

After the match, the skipper of Gujarat Titans highlighted the team’s poor batting performance, confirming during the post-match presentation that the pitch wasn’t a factor in their downfall. He took responsibility along with the other batters for what he described as “very average” batting.

“Our batting performance was very average, but I guess we need to move on. Even if we had a good game, we need to move on from this match and maintain the same mindset for the next one. We need to come back and try again. I think the wicket was all right, to be honest. If you look at our dismissals, the way I got out and even the way Wridhi bhai got out had nothing to do with the pitch. Sai got run out. So I don’t think there was anything wrong with the pitch. It was simply a case of bad batting performance and poor shot selection I would say,” a frustrated Shubman Gill said.

GT is currently ranked 7th in the league table with 6 points from 7 matches. The captain emphasized the need to win 5 out of their next 7 matches to maintain their record of reaching the IPL playoffs every season.
