“From Testing Barbados Soil to expressing the feeling” ,Rohit Sharma reveals every emotion that he is going through after winning the Cup

Indian captain Rohit Sharma talked about the Men in Blue’s victory in the second ICC T20 World Cup, mentioning that the joy hasn’t fully set in yet and he wants to enjoy every moment. Excellent bowling at the end of the game by Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, along with strong batting performances by Virat Kohli and Axar Patel, helped India win their second ICC T20 World Cup title. They beat South Africa, who were in the finals for the first time, by seven runs in an exciting match in Barbados on Saturday.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit said that the feeling of winning the tournament is amazing and it still feels like a dream, since the team had been working towards this goal for a long time.

“Yes, the feeling is really strange. I don’t think it has fully hit me yet. It’s been an amazing moment. From the end of the game until now, it feels like a dream. We still can’t believe it happened. Even though it did, it feels like it didn’t. That’s the feeling we have. We’ve been dreaming about this for a long time. We worked hard together for a long time, and now that it’s here, it feels really good and a bit of a relief. When you work hard for something and finally get it, it feels great. Last night, we had a really good time,” Rohit said.

The captain mentioned that the team enjoyed their victory celebration until the next morning, which made him lose sleep, but he thought it was worth it.

“We had a great time with our teammates until very early in the morning. So, I didn’t get enough sleep. But that’s completely okay with me. You know, not sleeping after a day like that is fine. I have plenty of time to go home and catch up on sleep. But, as I said, this moment was very special for all of us. I want to enjoy every moment, every second, every minute that’s happening. I want to make the most of it. You see, those things are actually hard to describe because nothing was planned. It was all… You know, whatever came naturally,” he explained.

Rohit explained that tasting the soil from the Barbados cricket pitch was a way to capture a special moment for him. He felt that the pitch played a crucial role in their victory and he wanted to keep a part of it with him. He also expressed that he would always cherish the memory of the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

“I wanted to experience the moment more deeply by touching the pitch because it was so important to our win. We played and won on that specific pitch and at that ground. I’ll always remember that ground and that pitch. That’s why I wanted to take a piece of it with me. Those moments are incredibly special. And since that place made our dreams come true, I wanted something to remember it by. That’s what inspired me to do it,” he finished.
