Former Indian Cricketer Revealed Why Board Of Control For Cricket In India Selected Prasidh Krishna In Test Cricket, Check The Reports

Prasidh Krishna, a key figure in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, has faced criticism for his high economy rate. With a notable economy rate of 13.0 in three matches, Krishna was under scrutiny, particularly after an unimpressive final in the 3rd T20I, where he failed to defend 21 runs. This led to his exclusion from the 4th T20I.

Despite the T20I setback, Prasidh Krishna is set to feature in the Test series against South Africa. This inclusion sparks curiosity and questions about what the fast bowler could bring to the Test format.

During a conversation on the Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues,’ cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar revealed Nayan Mongia’s perspective. Mongia, a former Indian wicketkeeper, emphasized that Prasidh Krishna is a player suited for the game’s longer format. Mongia sees great potential in Krishna’s ability to deliver with pace and bounce.

Nayan Mongia said: “I am a big fan of Prasidh Krishna, especially in Test cricket.” Mongia’s endorsement sheds light on Krishna’s qualities, making him stand out as a potential asset in the Test series against South Africa.

“I am happy for Prasidh Krishna. He is a longer-format bowler. With the sort of pace he has and the bounce he gets, he can be an excellent bowler on South African wickets,” Nayan Mongia said.

Nayan Mongia believes that Prasidh Krishna can benefit significantly from the mentorship of senior pacers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj during the South Africa tour. The experienced trio can be crucial in grooming Krishna and helping him excel on the challenging South African wickets.

Mongia encourages Krishna to make the most of this opportunity, emphasizing the significance of the chance to bowl against South Africa in their conditions. The former Indian player highlights that this tour provides a unique opportunity for Krishna to showcase his skills on demanding pitches.

“It’s good he has been given an opportunity. He can be groomed properly under Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. If he gets a chance, he shouldn’t waste it. You won’t get a better opportunity than this. You will get to bowl against South Africa in South Africa. You won’t get better wickets than that,” said Mongia.

India’s upcoming tour of South Africa is set to be a comprehensive affair, featuring three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. The action-packed schedule will kick off with the T20I series on December 10, followed by the ODIs, with the Test series concluding the tour starting on December 26 at Centurion.
