Sahil Kukreja, previously a Mumbai batter, has questioned the BCCI’s choice to leave Shreyas Iyer off the Indian cricket team roster for the current Test series versus England.
Kukreja, a part of the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Cricket Improvement Committee, believes Shreyas has done well as both a batter and a captain. He thinks selectors, coaches, and team managers should explain why Shreyas is missing the England series, especially after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took breaks.
Kukreja told Rediff, I hope he makes a comeback. He’s a great player, but for some unclear reason, luck isn’t on his side. The selectors, coaches, or team managers need to explain this.” He expressed his surprise, stating, It’s shocking that Shreyas Iyer isn’t in the Test team, considering his accomplishments and record as a player and captain. It’s hard to believe someone like him isn’t included.
Mohammed Siraj verified that Jasprit Bumrah will participate in the fourth Test, which starts on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
Due to managing his workload, Bumrah was intended to play in three of the five Tests. He missed the second Test at Edgbaston, but came back for the game at Lord’s.
Anil Kumble, the former India captain, emphasized the need to have the star pacer play in the final two Tests, with India down 1-2 in the series.
Siraj clarified Bumrah’s availability for the fourth Test following the team’s first practice in Manchester. Siraj informed reporters that “Jassi will play to the best of my knowledge and our lineup changes frequently because of injuries.”
