“For the last many years, India have dominated…”: Gautam Gambhir Takes An Interesting Dig At Pakistan’s Team Performance

India emerged victorious in the thrilling showdown between traditional cricket rivals, thrashing Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023. This remarkable victory led to former India opener Gautam Gambhir issuing a thought-provoking statement about the potential future bilateral series between the Men in Blue and Babar Azam’s men. India’s convincing win extended their streak to three games in the showpiece event.

India’s dominance over Pakistan in the ICC World Cup continued as the Men in Blue secured their eighth consecutive victory against their arch-rivals. This streak dates back to their first encounter in the 1992 edition of the ODI World Cup. In the most recent match, a collective performance from Indian bowlers limited Pakistan to a below-par target of 192 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India effortlessly chased the target in just 30.3 overs, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in front of a massive crowd at the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Reflecting on India’s impressive win over Babar’s men, former Indian opener Gambhir recalled when Pakistan used to dominate India. “Hammering along with domination. You rarely use this word, especially when playing against Pakistan. If you see the results, Pakistan used to hammer India like this for a long time. However, for the last many years, India has been dominant. This marks a significant shift in subcontinental cricket dynamics.”

Gambhir couldn’t help but praise Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, named the Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance. Bumrah’s crucial Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan wickets were instrumental in India’s low-scoring victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Bumrah claimed two wickets in his seven overs while conceding only 19 runs. Gambhir emphasized the luxury of having bowlers like Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav in the team.

“If any captain has Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, it is a huge advantage. Out of the 50 overs, you get 20 overs from bowlers who can take wickets at any moment. Comparing Jasprit Bumrah with Shaheen Shah Afridi, it’s evident that Bumrah’s spell was delivered under the harsh 2 PM Sun, and he hardly gave away any runs in his first four overs.”
