Exclusive: Kieron Pollard To Join England Cricket For T20 World Cup 2024

Former West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard is reportedly poised to be named as a consultant coach for England in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The event is set to take place in the Caribbean and the USA in June.

The defending champions aim to defend their 2022 title, with Pollard expected to take on a role similar to that of former Australian batter Mike Hussey who worked with the team in the previous year.

“Pollard also brings an intimate knowledge of conditions in the West Indies. The Trinidadian will help England to assess the pitches in the T20 World Cup, which begins on June 4. He will play a similar role to Mike Hussey, the former Australian batsman, in the 2022 T20 World Cup victory,” a report in The Telegraph said.

The report additionally mentioned that Pollard was seen at a hotel in Trinidad, which served as the accommodation for the England team during the last two T20Is in their five-match series against West Indies.

England lost the series 3-2. This outcome follows their disappointing performance in the 50-over World Cup held earlier this year in India.

Pollard is considered as one of the most powerful hitters in the history of the T20Is. He gained fame during his tenure with Mumbai Indians where he has scored 2316 runs at a strike rate of 147.32. He also grabbed 69 wickets in IPL.
