The star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has finally returned to Mumbai Indians after spending two years in Gujarat Titans as captain. Hardik started his career at Mumbai Indians and said it feels like “coming back to where it all began.”
Having commenced his career with Mumbai Indians and clinched a couple of IPL titles, Pandya later joined Gujarat Titans before the 2022 season. Under his captaincy, Gujarat Titans secured the title in 2022 and reached the final in the 2023 season.
In preparation for the 2024 season, Hardik Pandya was traded back to Mumbai Indians, where he initially started his career, and was appointed as their captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma.
“Returning to Mumbai Indians feels like coming back to where it all began. From my journey as a young lad in Baroda to Mumbai, this city has taught me growth, instilling in me humility and resilience. The city’s love and teachings are invaluable to me, shaping me into the cricketer I am today. Mumbai always challenges you to be better and now with the IPL, I have returned home after 2 years,” Hardik Pandya said in an interview with Star Sports.
Talking about the upcoming IPL season, Pandya appealed to the MI fans to extend their support for the franchise.
“I seek the same backing from our fans to propel us towards victory,” he urged. Rest assured, I’ll ensure a thrilling season that every supporter will relish. It’s a journey we’ll all enjoy together. “

Representing Mumbai Indians amidst seasoned players was a turning point for me. When you get a chance to play with such established players on such a big platform, your life changes.”
“I was fortunate enough that I was able to contribute on a much larger scale to the knockout games. Bagging two ‘Man of the Match’ awards during crucial knockout games was surreal. It marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey for me, it’s a chapter I’ll always cherish,” he added.
