On Monday, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming Test series against India. The squad includes the twenty-year-old spinner Shoaib Bashir. Additionally, uncapped bowlers Gus Atkinson and Tom Hartley have been also named in the squad.
Shoaib Bashir who recently made his first-class debut for Somerset in June has been selected for the England squad for the upcoming five-Test series against India. Despite his relatively recent entry into first-class cricket, Bashir is one of the four spinners chosen for the tour. Vice-captain Ollie Pope and Jack Leach are making a return to the team after recovering from their injuries.
Ben Stokes will be seen as the captain of the England cricket team after his successful knee surgery. England had a disappointing 2023 World Cup campaign and the English team will definitely look to have some good time in India.
Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has been included in the squad, making a return after being omitted from England’s Ashes squad. However, there is no spot for Chris Woakes.
The first Test between both teams will be played on January 25 in Hyderabad.
