In an interesting turn of events, the young Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is all set to make his comeback from the IPL 2024. The reports claim that Pant will once again take the captain’s seat for the Delhi Capitals. Last year, Pant met with a horrible accident and he has been out from the cricket field since then.
In the absence of Pant, star Australian opener David Warner was appointed as the skipper of DC for the IPL 2023. According to a report from Cricbuzz, Pant will be seen captaining the franchise.
Some reports earlier suggested that Pant would assume the role of an ‘Impact Player’ for the Delhi-based franchise due to his ongoing recovery. However, with the recent announcement of his captaincy, it is evident that he will be actively participating on the field while leading his team.
According to some officials of Delhi Capitals, Pant is expected to gain his full fitness by the end of February 2024. Currently, the wicketkeeper is in the National Cricket Academy(NCA) for rehab. However, if Pant thinks of performing the wicket-keeper role for the team, he needs approval from the Delhi Capitals team.
During the entire 2023 Indian Premier League season, Rishabh Pant’s absence was felt. Under the captaincy of David Warner, the Delhi Capitals performed in a mediocre way. They managed to win just five matches out of 14 and stood at the ninth position in the points table.
