The bilateral series between the two biggest cricketing nations, India and Pakistan, has not been played for over a decade now. The two teams only play against each other in ICC or ACC events. Yet here’s another marquee event in which India and Pakistan are set to tussle once again against each other on June 9.
However, ahead of such a highly anticipated clash between the two sides Former Pakistani batter Basit Ali has made a shocking claim on his YouTube channel, saying that the ICC wants India and Pakistan to face each other twice in the World Cup, and they have made the schedule accordingly.
In his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said, “India and Pakistan should play two matches in the World Cup, according to the ICC. In order for the two teams to play each other again in the semifinal or championship, a schedule has been created. We’ll learn more about the location eventually. These days, everything is based on output. While India has participated in the IPL and appears to be in fine form, Pakistan is currently on a somewhat downward trajectory. Babar needs to open in order for Pakistan to play well.”
India and Pakistan are placed alongside Ireland and Canada in Group A. Team India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
