‘Dinesh Karthik Should Be Removed From RCB Before IPL 2024’, Tom Moody, Deep Dasgupta Picks Another Wicket-keeper For The Franchise

The veteran Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has had a very poor season in the IPL 2023. The batter played for Royal Challengers Bangalore but failed to score when needed most for the team. The experienced wicket-keeper had a disappointing performance in the tournament where he scored only 140 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 134.62.

Meanwhile, the former Australian cricketer and the former head coach of SRH Tom Moody has said that this could be the last season for Dinesh Karthik looking at his current form.

Karthik had an impressive performance in 2022 which led to his return to the national team. He was included in the Team India squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup. However, it appears that he is no longer in consideration for future selections as the BCCI is looking to get in the young players for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup to be held in 2024.

While talking about the future of Dinesh Karthik on ESPNcricinfo, Dinesh Karthik said, “Dinesh Karthik had a very average tournament and you just wonder whether this is possibly his last tournament.”

Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has also voiced the words of Moody and said that RCB management should release Dinesh Karthik before the next season and they should nourish Anuj Rawat as their prime wicket-keeper choice.

“I guess it boils down to whether DK wants to continue or not,” Deep said.

“I am sure if he wants to continue, he will find another franchise. I think Anuj Rawat has shown enough, maybe in glimpses, that he can do that job and they need to invest in him. He is a consistent performer in domestic cricket.”
